A Rare and Robust Jesby Automatic Dive Watch with an Iconic Monnin Case in Superb Condition, Very Collectable, c.1970s
What’s on Offer
We are delighted to offer for sale this lesser-seen Jesby dive watch housed inside a highly collectable Monnin case which was historically found on dive watches from well-known watch brands namely Heuer. It is a distinctive dive watch case, with a flat, rounded shape, smooth lugs, and crown guards that seem to hug the crown.
The dial is in nice shape with oversized luminous baton hour plots and chunky stick hands with luminous inserts and a diamond-shaped lollipop seconds hand. There is a day and date window at 3 oclock. The watch is powered by the caliber 2878 which is a vintage Swiss-made automatic movement that started production in the 1970s.
The case is renowned as Heuers very first divers watch case and became so successful thanks to its pioneering design that many other manufacturers at the time of its release (1979) sought to incorporate it. This spread to some more leftfield watch brands such as Jesby, who lent it a highly collectable and iconic look.
This watch is in great shape and remains in demand and collectable – I cannot find any others for sale online and we have only sold one of these watches previously see here – it has a meaty presence on the wrist and looks great.
