1964 Enicar Ultrasonic in a 32mm solid 9k gold Dennison case. Signed silver dial featuring numeral quarter-hour plots and straight gold batons.
Enicar was founded by Ariste Racine in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The name “Enicar” is derived from Racine’s initials (“R.A.C.” pronounced in reverse). The company initially focused on producing pocket watches and chronographs before transitioning to wristwatches.
The Enicar Sherpa collection became iconic for its ruggedness and durability. These watches were designed to withstand extreme conditions and were favored by adventurers and explorers. The Sherpa models often featured innovative case designs and were highly water-resistant for their time.
What’s on Offer
Microscopic inspection reveals the slightest patina effect to the dial and hands, though this isnt visible to the untrained eye. The dial face itself, together with the watch glass, features a stunning rounded effect, leaving the edges to ‘sink’ into the bezel. The sword hands, solid gold, are sharp as ever and thanks to an angled slope to them have a golden reflective sheen.
The glass is in remarkable condition for a truly vintage watch. AR1010 movement with a 42-hour power reserve in great working condition. The case back is engraved ‘To Ronald on our engagement, Estelle’ dated Dec. 27th 1964.
