Whats On Offer
A truly iconic watch is on offer here in the shape of the Certina Argonaut! These watches are seldom seen but are very much sought-after and collectable. This variation of the Argonaut is particularly cool with its matt black dial with the red crosshair detail. The chunky block-shaped hour plots have aged to a fantastic mellow yellow colour which corresponds perfectly to the luminous inserts in the chunky stick hands. A needle seconds hand glides around the dial past a date wheel at 3 o clock which completes the dial which is encapsulated underneath shatterproof Plexiglas and encased in stainless steel. The bakelite bezel does show some signs of wear in particular at the number 5 position but is probably still in keeping with the age of the watch and the fact it is a tool watch, suggesting it has been used for purpose but nothing too concerning.
The watch measures 36.5mm but looks much more on the wrist as it is quite a meaty piece. We have paired it with a textured red rubber strap which really brings out the red details on the dial and gives this vintage watch a really contemporary edge. Certainly, a collector’s piece which would be a worthy addition to any collection.
