Vintage Avia Automatic Day Date with ETA 2789-1 Movement approximately 1976
The history of Avia watches goes back to the latter end of the 19th century. The company was a pioneer in the production of wristwatches made under their own brand name and provided watches and movements for other brands including New York, The Ball Watch company and Wittnauer.
What’s on Offer
Approximately dating to 1976, this Avia automatic boasts all of the traditional design aspects from that period. A chunky two-tone case, beautiful bronze gradient dial and large golden hour makers tying all together. The watch presents the normal signs of wear seen in the case but is nothing major. The bracelet fitted is unbranded and not original to the watch. One cool aspect is that it still has the original protection sticker on the case back which has managed to stay on this whole time.
Internally the watch contains the complete ETA 2789-1 automatic movement, a sturdy reliable Swiss movement with 25 jewels and keeping good time. These movements can be fairly expensive if you wish to buy one complete.
