Introducing the Rare and Much Sought-After Tudor Oyster Prince Submariner “Snowflake” Blue, Model 7016/0 in Fantastic Original Condition and Beautiful Toffee Lume, c.1970
The Tudor Submariner, introduced in 1954, was Tudors answer to the rising demand for robust diving watches. Developed by Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf, Tudor offered the same durability and waterproof capabilities as Rolex but at a more accessible price. Early models, like the reference 7922, shared many components with Rolex Submariners. Issued to military forces worldwide, including the French Navy, Tudor Submariners gained a reputation for reliability, paving the way for Tudors respected legacy in tool watches.
What’s on Offer
We’re delighted to offer this exceptional Tudor Submariner Ref. 7016/0, a rare and highly collectible example of the iconic “Snowflake” series. Produced circa 1970, this model showcases the distinctive square hour markers and snowflake hands. The Snowflake was strongly influenced by the French Navy or Marine Nationale.
The original and early “SWISS” blue dial has aged gracefully, exhibiting a rich patina – just look at that beautiful toffee coloured lume – a joy to those that appreciate the natural ageing process of vintage watches. The original acrylic crystal and stainless steel case remain in excellent condition, reflecting the watch’s careful preservation over the decades.
The watch is fitted with the Rolex-signed 7836 folded Oyster bracelet which is also in great shape. This is such a special piece and is sure to pique the interest of many, we don’t expect it to be around for long but we will be sad to see it go!
