A Very Rare Jumbo (37.5mm) Cased, Tudor Oyster Prince Date+Day, Model Ref: 7017/0 in Superb Condition with Tudor Box, c.1970
Tudor Watches, a renowned Swiss watch brand, has a rich history that dates back to 1926 when Hans Wilsdorf, the same visionary behind Rolex, founded it. The aim was to create high-quality timepieces with the reliability and precision of Rolex but at a more accessible price point. In the early years, Tudor established itself as a reliable and robust brand, supplying watches to professionals in various industries including divers and military personnel.
During the 1970s, Tudor faced challenges due to the quartz crisis, which led to a decline in mechanical watch sales. However, the brand made a remarkable comeback in 2009 under new leadership. It repositioned itself as an independent entity within the Rolex family while maintaining its commitment to quality craftsmanship.
Today, Tudor is celebrated for its distinctive design language inspired by vintage models from its archives. Its timepieces continue to offer exceptional reliability and precision due to their rigorous testing process.
