The Marvin Watch Company was founded in 1850byMarcandEmmanuel DidisheiminSaint-Imier.In1894the company moved toLa Chaux-de-Fonds.
In 1917 the three grandsons of the original founder MarcDidisheim took over the company.Despitemoving predominantlytowardswristwatches, the production of finemanufacturemovements was maintained. Besides their own movements, Marvin also usedRolexmovements for a short period.
From1940the company began alliances with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Ferrari, Mercedes, Jaguar, Fiat, MG, Rover, and Chevrolet. By1950, at their 100-year anniversary, Marvinwould enjoy a global distribution network that stretched across 70 countries.

This rare Marvin watch with its beautiful three, large register chronograph dial is simply charming to a fault.The original silver dial is in superb condition with applied giltArabic numerals on the hour and ultra-slim gilt pencil hands. All of the dial furniture, including dished subdials, outer scales, and Marvin signature at 12 o’clock, are well maintained and crisp.
The nickel-plated case, which is in excellent order, and curved lugs, have svelte lines which showcase the dial beautifully, giving the illusion of a larger wearing watch. The crown and pushers are in keeping with the subtle proportions, these ergonomic elements combined make for a very comfortable wearing timepiece with all the charm one would expect from a watch of this vintage, with the added bonus of the legendary Valjoux 72 movement!
