A stunning military-style c.1940s Tavannes Watch Company Stainless Steel Watch with Arabic Numerals and Sweep Central Seconds.

Reminiscent of the ATP WWII British Army series, and set in a remarkably similar case, this Tavannes watch is beautiful. Swiss made and Swiss powered, it keeps excellent time and has recently received a service by our expert watchmaker.

The dial has aged to a rich, smokey grey which is highlighted by a sharp gold sweep seconds hand and a bright green original radium lume insert to the hour and minute hands, which has patinated with age in an aesthetically pleasing way.

The solid stainless steel 32.5mm case features a smooth bezel and pull-out crown at 3:00. The watch comes on a leather strap. The watch bears the references ‘28750’ on the inside of the caseback and ‘9789-6364’ on the outside. The movement and caseback are also both signed Tavannes Watch Co.

What’s on offer

A well-preserved, modest but properly honest example of a 1940s British Army-style watch. The dial does show signs of age, but signs of wear are few and far between. Commensurate with age, there are scratches and marks to be seen on the watch case, but the glass is unscathed, but the condition given its age is rather impressive and because of the thick tapered bezel, wide lugs and chunky crown the watch wears larger than its 33mm size!
