A Charming Vintage Orfina Manual Wind Dress Watch With a Beautiful Jewelled Dial and Gold Capped Case – c.1950s
Orfina, a distinguished name in Swiss watchmaking, traces its roots back to 1922, when it was established in Grenchen, Switzerland. Known for its precision and reliability, Orfina quickly garnered a reputation for crafting high-quality timepieces. The brand gained significant prominence in the 1970s and 1980s, particularly with the introduction of the Orfina Porsche Design Chronograph, developed in collaboration with Porsche’s design studio.
What’s on Offer
A charming Art Deco piece on offer here from Orfina with a beautiful bejewelled dial featuring ruby coloured square stones which offer a decedent pop of colour. The gilt Dauphine hands are a nice design detail and the jewelled hour plots give an air of opulence.
The watch has a distinct vintage look and at just under 30mm is slight in proportions. The case sides and back are crafted from stainless steel with rose gold-topped lugs and bezel which looks rather stunning. Although the dial indicates that this watch is waterproof – we could not guarantee this given the age of the piece.
It is powered by theETA calibre 1080whichlaunched in 1950 and its construction was pioneering for nearly all manual wind movements of that decade. This watch is running well and looks very pretty on the wrist, it would certainly make a beautiful vintage addition to any collection.
