A Beautiful Square Girard Perregaux Vintage Watch in Stainless Steel With a Stunning Brushed Silver Dial and Elegant Applied Furniture, c.1960s
Girard-Perregaux, a revered name in Swiss watchmaking, traces its origins to 1791 when Jean-Franois Bautte established a watch factory in Geneva. The brand as known today emerged from the 1852 merger of Bautte’s firm with that of Constant Girard and Marie Perregaux, forming Girard-Perregaux. Their innovative spirit quickly shone through with the creation of the iconic Tourbillon with Three Gold Bridges in 1867, an engineering marvel that won numerous accolades.
Throughout the 20th century, Girard-Perregaux continued to push boundaries. In 1966, they revolutionized timekeeping by introducing one of the first high-frequency movements at 36,000 vibrations per hour. The brand also played a pivotal role in the development of quartz technology during the 1970s.
Today, Girard-Perregaux stands as a paragon of luxury and innovation, blending traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology to produce some of the world’s most esteemed timepieces.
