This Sea Moss dress ring in sterling silver features a sculpted design, inspired by the shape and form of seaweed, and is enhanced with a moonstone and cubic zirconia. The ring is hand-enamelled in Mills Sands enamel in our Orkney workshop. At its widest, the ring measures approximately 21mm, with the rear of the band measuring about 3mm.

About the collection

For many years, Sheila had been keen to develop jewellery inspired by the shape and form of seaweed, so when Janette Park, curator of Stromness Museum, asked about a collaboration to help raise funds for the museum, an idea took hold.

During a memorable visit to the museum, Sheila was shown fascinating and delicate seaweed samples, many collected from coastline at Hoxa Head during WWI. Inspired by the heart-shaped tips on some of the sea moss forms, Sheila worked with her in-house designer, Olivia Yorston, and together developed a beautifully organic collection of jewellery in both silver and gold.
